Today, I actually dared to watch the trailer for the upcoming City of Ember movie. I’ve been putting it off because I love the first book so much and didn’t want to ruin it for myself. BUT! The trailer actually looks alright. The characters look a lot like I’d imagined and Bill Murray is rather fawesome in most movies. Even if trailers are rarely a fantastic reflection on the movie itself. Any opinions to share?
Plus. I’m reading through the whole series again to prepare. Any opinions on Diamond of Darkhold? I haven’t even touched a copy yet. Nyah. It’s driving me crazzzy.
Pensively,
Aella

I didn’t even know there was a movie of that coming out until about last week. *shrug* Can’t say I’m very interested. I wasn’t that impressed by the book, possibly because the description the library had pretty much spoiled that whole ending, so I found it all sort of lacking. Didn’t care much for the sequels either, though I only read Sparks and whatever the one with the bomb on the front was. Didn’t know there were any other sequels either.
The moral of the story is that I am out of the loop.

I really liked the first one, but the books just got worse as the series progressed. I’m reading the Diamond of Darkhold right now. Well, not right now right now, because the newest Bloody Jack and Knight and Rogue books are calling from my pile o’ books. I think that it could make a cool movie if they do it right.

The trailer looks alright, but the story looks a little more thriller-ish than how I imagined the books. I liked the series overall, though I didn’t really like The Prophet of Yonwood all that much. I’ve read mixed reviews of The Diamond of Darkhold, but I really enjoyed it. I found the conclusion very satisfying.

I’m really excited about the movie, because I loved the first book and the movie looks at least pretty close to the book. I didn’t like the second book though. People of Sparks just sucked. Severely. So I stopped reading the series. I thought about getting the Prophet of Yonwood, but I decided not. It’s on my wishlist, but I’m not pushing it.

I would’ve been fine with the City of Ember just being a single book. And then the People of Sparks came out and I was like “Oh, okay, why not?”. And if it had ended there I would’ve been slightly more disappointed but still fine. And then the Prophet of Yonwood appeared and was bad, and now my only thoughts are “when is this going to END?” The fourth one is the last one, right?

I’m always torn between wanting something to be a movie and not. I didn’t see TCOE coming…

Thanks for posting the preview. I don’t think I’d have watched it otherwise, although I totally plan to see the movie. Bill Murray? Interesting…. The preview does a pretty good job, too, of spoiling the surprise I had in the book as to the true nature of the City of Ember, but what can ya do? I agree with others that City of Sparks and on didn’t catch my interest at all. Check out my YA book review when you get a sec!
